April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her journey in music in the 7th grade in which she began piano and guitar classes. April's first song was Different which she composed when she was 12 years old. As April approached 14 years old, she dedicated long hours creating song ideas and perfecting the music. The songwriting began along with her dad at home in NY and LA within a short time. The month also saw her include different topics related to some of her friends dealing with issues such as bullying by peers and teens who commit suicide through the songs"Take my Hand. Lockhart works in partnerships at the well-known cosmetics brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle influencer with a huge following of her own. She was born without her left hand, and it's part of her story, but that's not the entire story. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't hide her disability but doesn't concentrate solely on the issue. What is the message? It's crucial to understand that we all have many faces, our identities are diverse and we're much more than our bodies. Lockhart is interviewed via video in Nashville. "I don't want it to define my life. I do not want to only be recognized as an expert in disabilities. This doesn't influence my day-to-day routine. I conduct my business as usual and have come up with different ways of adapting. However, it's a component of me, so I believe that it's crucial to speak about. Lockhart is a great example of how to stay striving to be self-accepting. Still, she acknowledges going through periods of feeling insecure about her body, and also feeling uneasy wearing certain clothing styles that exposed her arms. She wears whatever she wants and posts photos of herself wearing the clothes she wears on social platforms. She says that self-love is a journey. It's not clear whether you'll get to the end. It's true for all, no matter what their degree of self-confidence. I think it's important to surround yourself with people who are able to see and know your true heart.
